Weekly Envy: WeON Glasses

The Weekly Envy highlights one piece of cool tech that we’ve come across lately and really wish we could buy!

From Ion Eyewear:

WeON Glasses are a very different take on “smart glasses” and claim to be the first optical or sun glasses that interact with your smartphone or tablet.

The first thing that stood out to me was how normal they look. Now those are glasses that people would actually wear. And  they do cool things.

WeON managed to pack a Bluetooth 4.0 chip, a battery, a multi-color LED set, a buzzer and two buttons into their frame. These allow you to receive notifications, control something like a music player and even track your glasses.

An interior LED can be programmed via the WeON app with different colors to be associated with different alerts/notifications. You can also have an audible alert.

The buttons act as Bluetooth controllers allowing you to navigate music, presentations, and even your phone camera. No more selfie stick!

The most innovative function of the glasses is their ability to notify you when they move outside of a certain radius from your smartphone or tablet. This means you’ll never forget your phone again! They can also be used to make your device beep (or even ring!) if you can’t find it.

With 7-10 days of battery life, the WeON Glasses can be preordered now for €129 with clear, non-prescription lenses. For an extra €10 you can get polarized lenses.

Some preorders of WeON glasses have been fulfilled, but I couldn’t find a timeline for website orders. You can preorder them here: http://www.weonglasses.com/
